Hello all ! I am Ivory B and I run a photography business called Little Light of Mine Photography by Ivory B. I am a military wife and our family is currently stationed in the desert of Southern California where its either cold, cold and windy, hot, or hot and windy (SN: I’m not loving it). However, I’d like to tell you all about Little Light of Mine Photography. I started my business for several reasons, so let’s get into it.
Shortly after my 2nd child was born, I convinced my husband to buy me a crazy expensive camera. His only request was that “You better use it every day”. So, I did. I took photos of my children, our neighborhood, our dog, our day trip locations, and any town we visited. We lived in Northern Italy at this time, so it wasn’t hard to find inspiration. Then I started taking photos for friends and family and I discovered my love for being behind the camera lens. I made a Facebook page and things slowly began to take off.
I’ve always had a passion for art. Since I was a child I have loved everything art from coloring, to drawing, to painting, to poetry, to music, and to photography. I was obsessed with drawing in my adolescent years and I let go of that for childish reasons; but I’ve always had a love for cameras, I just never knew until a few years ago that it could be a career.
Once I realized I had an eye for photography (because a bunch of people kept telling me I should go pro) I decided to take classes for it and taking those courses gave me an excitement that I had never felt in my 4.5 years of college in pursuit of my business degree. My love for photography became a passion and bordered on obsession.
So, these are a few of the reasons why I started my photography business. This is my dream career and I am working hard to make my business successful. It’s been a long road and there are bumps and steep curves every day, but being able to make a living by following my passion is a blessing that I will neither let go of nor take for granted. And I will leave you with this quote –“Create the highest, grandest vision possible for your life, because you become what you believe” Oprah Winfrey
