Hello all! I come to you again talking about boudoir photo shoots. I absolutely love these sessions! I think women go into these sessions nervous, skeptical, and probably overthinking (I know I would). At the end of my most recent session my client said "That was fun and not awkward at all". I love to make my clients laugh, and I personally think I'm a pretty funny gal. If you are thinking of doing a boudoir session I am going to give you some tips to help you relax, and also show you a little of my latest session!!

1. Meet with your preferred photographer before the session. Find out how your photographer likes to work (workflow). Let your photog know what you are comfortable and uncomfortable with. If you've looked at other boudoir photos on social media and found something you like, show your photog (but know that every photog is different and pics may not be the exact same as what you've shown them). Also, find out how they edit (I will not make you skinnier or change the way you look, but I will remove blemishes or scars and a few wrinkles). You should also expect your photog to try to get to know you as well. A boudoir session is very (for lack of better words) all in your BUSINESS, so I personally expect clients to have a sliver of anxiety about being vulnerable in front of a camera lens. Since I know this, I let my clients know that I will guide them through the posing and I make sure that they are always comfortable throughout the photoshoot.
In the photos you see is my client Michelle. She inquired about a boudoir photoshoot after seeing one of my blog posts. We met up the next week to discuss in detail her needs, how I work, pricing, products, and we chatted a little bit about our lives. We talked about our kids and parenting, and her being a TRIATHELETE!! She will be competing soon and what better way to celebrate herself than with a boudoir photo shoot!!

2. Make sure your choice of outfit is to your liking before the session. What will you do if you buy a new lingerie set online and you forget to try it on before your photog arrives, and once you've got it on you hate it, or its too small/big? Personally I've had a similar situation and we made it work, but this can crush confidence sometimes or get you out of the headspace you need to be in to relax during your session. Your photog should be able to handle this situation but can you? Be prepared ladies!!
When I arrived at Michelle's photoshoot (in her home) she was pretty much ready to go. Her makeup was done and she was working on her hair while I was setting up my reflector stand. At our meeting, we had talked a little about what type of outfit to wear and what lingerie would look great in a shoot. She lucked up at Victoria's Secret and caught a sale!!

3. If you really have a hard time getting out of your head, try making a sexy playlist to play during the photo session. If you're a person that enjoys meditating, try doing that before your session. Whatever you think will relax you, do it. Do not get drunk though, it's not easy for a photog to capture great images of drunk individuals (lol). But seriously, do what helps you relax.
Michelle did not appear nervous at all during her photoshoot. I walked her through her poses and she nailed each one!! I really had fun with this shoot as did my client.
Women come in all shapes and sizes and we know that. So, don't be self conscious during your photo shoot. There is beauty in every body, remember that! That's all the tips I have for you today. I'll have more for you soon. Until then I'll leave you with a quote.
